Mother accused of leaving baby in car while shopping at Walmart

WARRINGTON TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A mother is facing multiple charges after police say she left her 2-month-old baby inside a car while she shopped at a Walmart in Bucks County.

According to investigators, 42-year-old Tina Chiara DeCarla arrived at the store around 3:49 p.m. on Jan. 10 and remained inside for about 25 minutes.

A customer reported finding the infant asleep in the vehicle, seated in an unauthorized restraint in the front seat and facing forward.

Police say DeCarla left the parking lot before officers arrived.

She was later taken into custody on Jan. 16 at a residence in Warminster on charges of endangering the welfare of children and leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle.

Investigators say there was also an outstanding warrant for her arrest on charges including perjury, forgery, tampering with records and other related offenses.

DeCarla was arraigned and had her bail set at $100,000 or 10% cash for each case. She remains held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
